Beatie is an architect, cultural masterplanner and conservation strategist, with particular expertise in the creative transformation of existing and listed buildings and landscapes.
As Associate Director at Stirling Prize-winning practice Haworth Tompkins, Beatie played a leading role in a number of significant projects for major cultural and educational institutions, including Pembroke College, Cambridge, The De La Warr Pavilion, Bristol Old Vic, The Victoria & Albert Museum and the National Theatre. She also led a number of strategic Masterplans, decarbonisation plans and Conservation Management Plans for a range of listed settings including Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Trinity Hall, and the Harewood Estate.
As leader of Haworth Tompkins’ Sustainability & Regenerative Design group, Beatie recently completed best practice guidance on the decarbonisation of listed buildings in the cultural sector, in collaboration with Historic England and the Arts Council. She is currently a Design Fellow at the University of Cambridge.

John is an architect with over twenty years’ experience directing complex award-winning projects within major international practices. As director of the London office of Herzog & de Meuron, John delivered significant built projects for the Tate Modern, the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University, and the Royal College of Art.
Working at the intersection of design and strategy, he brings his extensive experience in the cultural, educational, residential and transport sectors to help clients define clear visions and deliver successful projects. His approach blends creativity with pragmatism, combining design leadership with a strong grasp of procurement, governance, and stakeholder engagement.
John is a registered RIBA client advisor, and also serves on the London Legacy Development Corporation and Barking & Dagenham Design Review Panels, contributing independent insight to ensure projects deliver lasting social and cultural value.
